Boulder International Film Festival Announces Opening Night Film and Red Carpet Gala Details

BIFF’s 19th year begins with acclaimed rock documentary, live music, two parties

WHAT:

The Boulder International Film Festival is excited to open the 2023 festival with Immediate Family, a film about a session band that elevated the music of James Taylor, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Keith Richards, David Crosby, and many others. “A beautiful, joyful and compelling journey of the most iconic and respected session musicians on the planet,” according to Rock NYC, the movie documents how a small, amiable team of players changed the course of musical history by creating the sound of the ’70s and all that came after. Director Denny Tedesco and band members Russ Kunkel and Steve Postell will attend opening night and participate in a Q&A with Ron Bostwick of 105.5 The Colorado Sound after the film.

WHEN and WHERE:

Friday, March 3, 2023, with two pre-parties from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Hotel Boulderado and BIFF’s private party space in the Crystal Building, followed by the film screening at Boulder Theater at 7:30 p.m.

DETAILS:

Opening night begins with two parties, one at the Hotel Boulderado and another at BIFF’s private festival party space on the third floor of the Crystal Building at 1401 Pearl. The parties feature live music by Tie Dye Sushi and Miguel Espinoza Fusion. Long-time Boulder favorite Pasta Jay’s Catering will provide Italian signature dishes and house-made specialties, alongside tasty selections from the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts and Savory Cuisines Catering. Drinks include wines from Scarpetta, local craft beers and hard seltzer from Upslope Brewing, and specialty cocktails from WhistlePig Rye Whiskey. The Guerilla Fanfare Brass Band will lead attendees and revelers second line style from the parties to the Boulder Theater for the screening of Immediate Family.
