9th Annual BIFF Singer-Songwriter Showcase at Chautauqua Green

Saturday, June 26, 12pm-6pm

Think of it as BIFF’s mini-music festival! We’ll have nine Front Range musicians with a variety of musical styles and genres. As always, the showcase is FREE and open to the public!

This will be a part of a larger BIFF Community Fair with food & beverage for sale as well as Boulder’s arts organizations letting you know what they have in store for 2021 and beyond. Come help us to Celebrate Boulder as never before!

Emelise Munoz

Emelise is a 15 year old singer/songwriter musician from Denver whose passion for making music often has her listeners referring to her as an old soul. Her style is a folk-rock, Americana blend. Emelise has been playing live music in front of crowds since she was six years old. Just recently she was in the studio and recorded her first EP titled On My Way produced by Brad Corrigan from Dispatch.

 Emelise enjoys street performing which has led to her booking shows across the country at coffee shops, farmers markets, microbreweries, festivals, and music venues. She has presented in premiere events, including TedX Uncommon in Denver, Move the Dial in Toronto, LA’s Winston House, and the Denver Women’s March. In 2017 Emelise placed first in The Stars of Tomorrow Competition at the world famous New York’s Apollo Theatre. She has been featured in Denver’s 5280 Magazine as “Country’s Next New Rising Star” and in 303 magazine as “The 13-year old Soon-to-be Star Taking Over Denver.

Devyn Rae

Denver songwriter, vocalist and musician Devyn Rae has an unforgettable, straight to the soul approach to her music. Collaborating with other musicians. Devyn has been writing for multiple genres including folk, R&B, rap, pop and soul which has defined her unique sound of alternative folk/soul.

Audience  members have described Devyn Rae Music as “intimate with a personal touch behind her soulful vocals and eminent lyrics .”

Devyn has played in multiple festivals including Underground music showcase in Denver CO, SOLO festival in Lafayette LA and Taste of Colorado. She has been featured on multiple artist tracks and has been actively playing shows with her band mates Rachel Margulies (Bass) and Heather Hunt (guitar) and recording for her first Album ” Little Things”.

Derek Pedersen

Derek Pedersen is a guitarist and singer living in Boulder, CO who fashions songs from historical reference, writing haikus, and human connection. Having gigged through Vermont, the east coast, and the front range of Colorado, Derek connects with the audience for an intimate and honest experience.

Derek’s music composition has been likened to Odetta, John Hurt, and John Fahey and his latest release “Hello, Again Sylvye” was recorded in Waterbury Center, Vermont with Kevin Bloom of The Dead Shakers.

Wellington Bullings

Sultry singer Wellington Bullings is making a name for herself in the world of Jazz and Soul music. As a seasoned performer and songwriter, she has been performing on Colorado stages for many years. Recently she released her debut album titled “Because I Want To” this past summer. The album is a collection of original music written by Wellington. Her new single titled “Flame” will be released this summer, along with an impactful music video that she filmed this Spring. The song is about celebrating the beauty and power of being a black woman. It is also dedicated to those who have lost their lives due to racial injustice.

As a woman deeply educated in the arts, Wellington studied songwriting and jazz vocal performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston MA. She now teaches voice & performance technique in the Denver/ Boulder area.

Wellington continues to write music and perform with her band, and is currently working on a new project that she is planning on releasing in early 2022.

Tony Meade

Singer-songwriter. Recording artist. Romance and cynicism. Hope and longing. Beauty and grit. These are the things that define the music and the musician. A contradiction that somehow makes sense. Hailing from the hills of West Virginia but making his home in Denver, Tony Meade has combined the roots music of his heritage with the post-punk influences of his youth to produce a unique, timeless brand of power-pop.

Tony has released three solo albums, starting with Not My Day (2010), followed by Won’t Stop Singing (2015) and Turn It Around(2020), as well as a number of standalone singles and the Westword-recommended Christmas album, Wassail (2020). Tony’s latest single, “Beautiful Child”, was released in March 2021, with a new single, “It’s Alright” arriving in June.

Wrenn & Ian, Featuring Dalton Vaughan on Percussion

Wrenn & Ian are young musicians based out of Lafayette, Colorado. They play an eclectic mix of original music and cover songs with Wrenn on vocals and Ian on guitar and keys. Ian’s dexterity on the guitar provides a balanced foundation for Wrenn’s powerful and expressive voice. They have a unique sound of their own and a musical finesse beyond their years. Don’t let their youth mislead you; the energy they bring to the stage is surprisingly powerful. They turn heads with their polished sound and electric talent. Having played the Arise Music Festival in 2019, Wrenn & Ian are continuing to build their following and working hard to earn their place in the industry.

When playing at Boulder International Film Festival, Wrenn & Ian will be joined by Dalton Vaughan on percussion. Dalton has been playing drums and percussion for over thirty years in Colorado. He has been heavily influenced by world music and artists such as Peter Gabriel, the Grateful Dead and Mickey Hart. Dalton’s percussion contribution adds another layer of complexity to the duo’s performance.

Dan Hochman

Elisa Garcia

Elisa Garcia plays Latin American folk songs from Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, down to Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay. Bringing rhythms like huapango, boleros, cumbias, zambas, and candombes, Elisa takes listeners on a journey through Latin America. She often plays with percussionist husband, Leo Munoz Corona, or as a trio with Venezuelan pianist, Victor Mestas.

Elisa was born in Uruguay, immersed in the sounds of tango and other Latin American folk music. At the age of eight, she relocated to the US with her family. Over the years, her interest in Latin America and other cultures in general led her to study Anthropology at CU Boulder. Her passion for music, dance, and art also led to a rediscovery of her own culture and in 2010 Elisa co-founded the Pan-American band, NuMundo, which created original songs inspired by Latin American rhythms. Her journey took her to Singapore and LosAngeles, where she continued to share the cultures of Latin America through music and dance.

Cary Morin

Described as “one of the best acoustic pickers on the scene today,” Cary Morin brings together the great musical traditions of America like no other. With deft fingerstyle guitar and vocals that alternately convey melodic elation and gritty world-weariness, Morin crafts an inimitable style often characterized as roots-infused Native Americana with hints of bluegrass, folk, blues, and rock.

He has performed at renowned venues across the globe, including the Kennedy Center and Lincoln Center, and is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades. David Bromberg describes him as “a unique and brilliant guitar player, songwriter and singer.” A tribute to the American South, Morin’s seventh solo release, Dockside Saints, merges Cary’s celebrated style of Native Americana with the spirit and sounds of Cajun, Creole and Zydeco music.

The album was produced and engineered by multi-Grammy winner Tony Daigle at the renowned Dockside Studio.

Graham Good

Graham Good is a singer/songwriter on the rise in Northern Colorado. From a stripped down folk-singer vibe, to a full on 7 piece funk-rock band and everything in between, Graham’s music exists to do one thing: share hope. The songs he sings tell stories of growth, inspiration, and the brighter sides of living. Graham has collected accolades such as being a finalist in the Great American SongWriters Contest, winning multiple battles of the bands, and even performing at Red Rocks in 2020 with his band The Painters. If you get the chance to see Graham do his thing, you are guaranteed to smile.

Callie Carlucci

Callie Carlucci is an independent artist, born and raised in Boulder, Colorado. She’s been singing since she was nine and writing stories for as long as she can remember.

Eventually, those stories became songs. The pandemic ruined a lot of her plans as an independent artist, but the past few months, she’s been working on her debut EP, which will be released later this year. Some artists that influence her style and songwriting include Taylor Swift, Lorde, Halsey, Chelsea Cutler, and many other female artists. The Boulder International Film Festival is her first live gig since the pandemic, and she couldn’t be happier.

H. Warkall

H. Warkall is an Americana/ alt-country singer-songwriter based in Colorado. He has performed in Honky Tonk bars, breweries, historic theaters, tea houses, warehouse, hen houses, and outhouses. Audiences are taken in by his deep and rugged vocals.

H. grew up on shores of Lake Erie; surrounded by cornfields, quaries, and ancient forests. At home, his father always had guitars and old blues records laying around for the pickin.

His first performance came during his sophomore year of high school. When he performed B.B. Kings “The Thrill is Gone” at the yearly talent show.

Influences include Son Volt, Lucero, Drive By Truckers, Steve Earl, Slobberbone, Willie Nelson, Whiskeytown and the Jayhawks.
