Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President

Available from Thursday Jan. 18th @ 12:00pm MT - Wednesday Jan. 24th @ 11:59pm MT

US, Feature Documentary, 95 minutes, 2020

If it hadn’t been for a bottle of scotch and a late-night visit from musician Gregg Allman, Jimmy Carter might never have been elected the 39th President of the United States. This documentary charts the mostly forgotten story of how Carter, a lover of all types of music, forged a tight bond with musicians Willie Nelson, the Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan and others. Low on campaign funds and lacking in name recognition, Carter relied on support from these artists to give him a crucial boost in the Democratic primaries. Once Carter was elected, the musicians became frequent guests in the White House. The surprisingly significant role that music played throughout Carter’s life and in his work becomes a thread in this engaging portrait of one of the most enigmatic Presidents in American history.
Starring Jimmy Carter, Madeleine Albright, Bono, Garth Brooks, Jimmy Buffett, Chip Carter, Rosanne Cash, Bishop Michael Curry , Bob Dylan, Chuck Leavell, Willie Nelson, Nile Rodgers, Paul Simon, Trisha Yearwood, Andrew Young
- Directed by Mary Wharton
- Produced by Chris Farrell, David Kirkpatrick

Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey Film Still Frame

US, Feature Documentary, 105 minutes, 2013

Don't stop believing in the Journey franchise. Their iconic song is the most downloaded tune in iTunes history, and, four nights a week, the band plays to 15,000-person Bic-flicking audiences all over the world. That's why picking a replacement singer was a really big deal for Journey guitarist Neal Schon who, after listening to thousands of singers covering Journey songs, finally heard Arnel Pineda, a slight, 40-something Filipino lounge singer, on YouTube. ``I had to walk away because I thought he can't be that good. I called him that night,`` says Schon. This film tells the real life rock and roll fairy tale of the dynamic Pineda and how he opens huge new markets for American music throughout the world. But can Arnel, with his history of homelessness, alcohol and drugs, resist the overwhelming temptations and pressure of big-time rock and roll?
- Directed by Ramona S. Diaz.
- Produced by Ramona S. Diaz and Capella Fahoome Brogden
