Immediate Family is a film about a session band whose members accomplished great feats, like knocking out Werewolves of London in just one afternoon and earning nearly a hundred gold and platinum records over five decades. The greatest session bands have the ability to transform a raw song from a songwriter into a far higher artistic place than even the original songwriter could ever have imagined. And that is the singular genius of The Immediate Family, a band that has elevated the sound of generations, including the music of James Taylor, Carole King, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, and Keith Richards, as well as Neil Young, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Don Henley and Phil Collins, Bonnie Raitt, Warren Zevon, Stevie Nicks, Lyle Lovett and Jimmy Buffett. This small, amiable team of players would change the course of musical history, creating the sound of the 70’s and all that came after.

Opening night includes two pre-film parties at the Hotel Boulderado and our private festival party space on the third floor of the Crystal Building, 1401 Pearl (NE corner of 14th and Pearl). Attendees will enjoy delicious food, live music, wines from Scarpetta , local craft beers and hard seltzer from Upslope Brewing, and specialty cocktails from WhistlePig Rye Whiskey . Long-time Boulder favorite Pasta Jay’s Catering will provide Italian signature dishes and house-made specialties. The parties will also feature tasty selections prepared by Savory Cuisines Catering, and more.
The parties feature live music by Tie Dye Sushi and Miguel Espinoza Fusion. The Guerilla Fanfare Brass Band will lead attendees and revelers “second line” style to the Boulder Theater for the screening of Immediate Family.
