Then enjoy a screening of the great new film ‘Spacewoman,’ about Eileen Collins, the first female spacecraft commander in history. A Q&A with Eileen Collins and filmmakers Hannah Berryman and Keith Haviland follows the screening.

SPACEWOMAN

UK, Feature Documentary, 100 minutes, 2024

Based on the book ‘Through the Glass Ceiling to the Stars’ written by Eileen Collins and Jonathan H. Ward.

Astronaut Eileen Collins was the first female spacecraft commander in history. Born on the other side of the tracks in upstate New York, she smashed many glass ceilings in the US Air Force and at NASA in her career, culminating in her commanding four increasingly dramatic and dangerous space shuttle missions. With an incredible set of archival materials, intimate interviews, and a moving score by Marcelo Zarvos, Hannah Berryman’s nail-biting film shares the emotional journey experienced by Eileen and her family, and asks the philosophical question: “What level of risk is acceptable in one of the most important and dangerous adventures in human endeavors?”

Directed by Hannah Berryman
Produced by Keith Haviland, Natasha Dack Ojumu
Colorado Premiere
