Vail Film Festival is April 2 - 5The 2009 Vail Film Festival takes place April 2 - 5, 2009 at America’s top-rated ski resort in Vail, Colorado. Filmmaker Kevin Smith (Clerks, Chasing Amy, Zack & Miri) will receive the Renegade Award, and Actor Michelle Monaghan (Made of Honor, Eagle Eye) will receive the Excellence in Acting Award. The Festival opens on Thursday, April 2nd with Trucker, directed by James Mottern, starring Michelle Monaghan, and Benjamin Bratt. Weather Girl, directed by Blayne Wilson, and starring Tricia O’Kelley, Mark Harmon and Kaitlin Olson, screens as the closing film on Saturday, April 4. Besides films, the festival will feature panels, an awards ceremony, Live Music, and VIP parties. For more information go to vailfilmfestival.org. International Film SeriesEstablished in 1941, the International Film Series is Boulder’s first art-house film series. Most films are shown in Muenzinger Auditorium; some are shown in ATLAS 102 as noted on the schedule. Admission: $6 general, $5 w/UCB student ID. Tickets go on sale 30 minutes before the show. "American Outrage" Screening at CUAmerican Outrage, the winner of the "Best Environmental Film" at BIFF 09 will be screening on Thursday, April 2 in Hellems 201 on the University of Colorado campus. It includes light refreshments at 5:00 with showtime at 5:30. The screening is free and open to the public. and is sponsored by the Dept. of Communication’s Diversity & Outreach Committee. Spirit of the Outdoors Film Festival Accepting Submissions - No Entry FeeThe Spirit of the Outdoors Film Festival will showcase local, novice filmmakers’ love of the outdoors on April 25, 2009 at REI in Boulder, Colorado. Films of note - up to five minutes long -will show locals who are environmentally conscious, active, energetic, and determined to make a difference in the world. Beaver Creek Resort Company, REI and BDA have joined forces to create a venue for people to tell stories of what inspires them. All submissions are eligible to win great prizes to Beaver Creek. The judges are: James Balog, award-winning photographer and filmmaker; David D’Angelo, owner of Serac Adventure Films, and Meryem Ersoz, owner of Red Pine Films.
