The entirety of BIFF’s operational success depends on the hard work of volunteers, work that can often be boring, frustrating, chaotic and unsung, with magnificent highs followed by unbelievable disasters, and the only bennies being free admission to screenings and dress-up parties.

But you’ll meet fascinating, creative people from all over the world, and you’ll emerge from this experience with some great new stories to tell, great new friendships, and a lot of unbelievable memories. Free Holiday Schmoozer!

Free Holiday Schmoozer! This month’s highly popular BIFF Schmoozefest is Wednesday, December 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00pm, with great munchies, cheap wine, and non-stop, wall-to-wall conversation. This is a great opportunity for you to make connections, belly to belly, with people from across Boulder’s fun-loving arts community. RSVP to staff&biff1.com. CFS/BIFF Receives Xcel Energy Grant!

The Colorado Film Society and the Boulder International Film Festival are proud to be a first-time recipient of a grant from Xcel Energy Foundation. Formed in 2001 as the philanthropic arm of the company, Xcel Energy Foundation oversees more than $15 million in funded charitable activities of Xcel Energy and its subsidiaries. In 2006, the Foundation committed $919,800 to programs supporting the arts, and in 2007 contributed over $4 million to organizations throughout their service territory.

A big thanks to Xcel Energy for supporting the CFS and BIFF and the arts in Boulder!

Durango Independent Film Festival Final Call for Entries

The Durango Independent Film Festival (DIFF) welcomes film submissions for its 2009 festival, scheduled for March 4-8, 2009. This competitive film festival accepts entries for short, documentary, and feature films on all subject matter. DIFF is committed to bringing challenging, entertaining, and diverse independent film into our community with the goal of providing a platform for filmmakers to express their unique viewpoints and creative ideas in an ever- changing world. In order to be considered for selection, all entries must be postmarked no later than December 5, 2008. Please check durangofilm.org for more information.
