Our big idea?

Combine low entry fees with lavish filmmaker hospitality, and open our festival to gifted indie film artists from all over the world. This principle...along with our ability to produce huge, film-savvy, sold-out audiences in our two 900-seat theaters...has made the  Boulder International Film Festival one of the most influential young film festivals in the U.S., with an extraordinary number of new-but-then-unknown films that have gone on from early screenings at BIFF to significant box-office success and multiple Oscar nominations.

Acceptance of your film for BIFF2009 places it in spirited competition for the numerous Jury and People's Choice Awards...together with the immeasurable credibility-boost from placing the words "WINNER,  BOULDER INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL" on your film's jacket and resume.

BIFF strongly encourages you to accompany your film to our festival. We will provide your lodging free, along with  access to all free-food-and-drink parties, buffets, and receptions along with our notorious BIFF Filmaker's Lounge...

Boulder is beautiful, fun and easy-to-get-to and you'll have a great time at our forums and parties where you'll get a chance to rub egos with accomplished filmmakers, critics, and industry representatives from throughout the world.

"Of course we went to Toronto and Sundance, but we HAD to show our film in Boulder, and it was the biggest, most enthusiastic audience we ever had."
Sean McAllister, Filmmaker
Located in the spectacular Rocky Mountains of Colorado USA, Boulder is a true world-class city; a traditional magnet for the tech-savvy, music & arts-loving outdoors-person who also likes to party.
Along with a major University film school, we have hundreds
of miles of running, skiing and hiking trails, world-class restaurants, hotels, galleries, shops and bar bands, all surrounded by a 46,000-acre moat of virgin Boulder Open Space, which is populated by deer, bear, mountain lion, bald eagles, and coyote.
Boulder is just 45 minutes from the Denver International Airport. Enjoy.

"Boulder as a vacation destination already puts BIFF on the map. And the staff's dedication to championing true indies, the amazing hospitality along with a classic theater (with a full bar that serves drinks during screenings) make this a festival that should be on the top of every filmmaker's list."  -- Chris Gore, ( left.) author of the "Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide" and editor of Film Threat Magazine.
